Final Encounter (Concert Band)

Program Notes: Final Encounter is a Grade 2 band piece that emphasizes the switch between 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures back-and-forth. 
 
The piece follows an army marching off to meet a fierce dragon that has been wreaking havoc on their village. Using counting, foot stomps, key clicks, and stand scratches, the students are engaged in the "marching" of the army as they approach and defeat the dragon. 
 
Instrumentation: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Alto Sax, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Timpani, 6 to 8+ Percussion (Marching Machine and Ratchet [may be split between two players], Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Cymbals [Suspended and Crash Cymbals may be split between two players], Tam-Tam, Glockenspiel [may have multiple Glockenspiel players]
