Six Descriptors (Mixed Chamber Ensemble)

Six Descriptors is a mixed chamber ensemble work featuring Oboe, Bb Clarinet, C Trumpet, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Percussion (Temple Blocks, 32" Timpano, Triangle, Tam-Tam, Tenor Steel Pan). The piece is written in the modern style, so there is a wealth of extended techniques and interesting melodic and harmonic motivic content. In six movements, the first five introduce material and develop ideas individually, then the sixth movement ties them all together. Players must have proficient ensemble skills in order to play together, and some knowledge of extended techniques is necessary.
