Strangely, Soothing
"Strangely, Soothing" focuses on rippled rolls in an unstable, modal setting. The voices meander about atypically, achieving an equal parts mixture of empty movements and functional, directional ones.
This piece is part of my collection of marimba solos intended for beginning four-mallet students. This piece is definitely on the more advanced end of "beginning," but it functions as a short, more approachable introduction to double/triple-laterals/rippled chords while staying musical, which in my thought process warrants this distinction.
